Smith Lake Pups Toy Poodles
Toy Poodles just have the best energy. They’re elegant, intelligent, and deeply devoted little companions, and I truly love raising them. Our Toy Poodles are 100% purebred and carefully bred with a focus on health, temperament, and socialization, ensuring each puppy is confident, loving, and ready to thrive in a family home.
The Toy Poodle puppies you see below are still with us, receiving lots of hands-on care, socialization, and thorough veterinary checks. Outside of extenuating circumstances, we anticipate each puppy will be ready to go home on the pickup dates listed. These early weeks are so important, and we take great care to make sure every puppy is set up for success before joining their forever family.
Toy Poodles amaze me with their intelligence and attentiveness. They’re thoughtful, intuitive, and incredibly tuned in to their people. I love watching them learn and quietly show their devotion in such meaningful ways.
If you’re curious whether a Toy Poodle’s intelligence and engagement would be a good match for your home, work life, or training expectations, I’d love to help you explore that.

A Little More About Our Toy Poodles
Toy Poodle - The result of breeding two purebred toy poodles
Toy Poodles are known for their intelligence, grace, and affectionate nature. They form strong bonds with their families and truly love being involved in everyday life. Despite their small size, they have big personalities and a wonderful balance of playfulness and calm companionship.
Toy Poodles are excellent with children when raised with love and proper socialization, and they tend to be very people-focused. They enjoy interaction, learning new things, and spending time close to their family — whether that’s playing, walking, or cuddling on the couch.
Why Families Love Toy Poodles
(These advantages are typically the case but cannot be guaranteed to be true of each individual doodle puppy.)
Toy Poodles are one of the most popular small breeds for good reason. They are incredibly intelligent, easy to train, and known for their loyal and affectionate personalities. Their coats are non-shedding and widely considered hypoallergenic, making them a wonderful choice for many families with allergies.
As a small breed, Toy Poodles are easy to manage while still being active and engaging. They adapt well to different living environments, including apartments and homes with limited space, and they thrive when they’re treated as part of the family.
The Toy Poodle Personality
Toy Poodles are consistently ranked as one of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world, second only to the Border Collie. They are quick learners, eager to please, and love having a job — whether that’s learning tricks, participating in training, or simply staying close to their people.
Beyond their intelligence, Toy Poodles are incredibly loving and loyal. They are not known for aggression, tend to be gentle and patient, and usually do very well with children. They’re attentive without being overly vocal and are happiest when they’re included in family life. And while they may look refined, they absolutely love to cuddle just as much as they love to play.
Toy Poodle Care & Maintenance
Toy Poodles have a curly, non-shedding coat that requires regular grooming to keep it healthy and comfortable. Weekly brushing is important to prevent tangles and matting, and many families choose professional grooming every six to eight weeks.
Routine nail trims are also important, along with regular ear cleaning, as Poodles can be prone to ear buildup. With consistent care, Toy Poodles are relatively easy to maintain and stay looking and feeling their best.
Typical Toy Poodle Colors
Toy Poodles come in a wide variety of beautiful colors. At Smith Lake Pups, our Toy Poodle colors may include Apricot, Red, Cream, Black, Brown, Silver, or Parti variations, depending on the litter. Each puppy is uniquely beautiful, and their coloring often continues to develop as they grow.
