Smith Lake Pups Yorkies

Yorkies have such a special spark about them — tiny in size, yet full of personality and heart. I truly love raising these little companions. Our Yorkshire Terrier puppies are 100% purebred and carefully raised with a focus on health, temperament, and early socialization so they grow into confident, loving members of the family.

The Yorkie puppies you see below are still with us, receiving lots of hands-on care, socialization, and thorough veterinary checks. Outside of extenuating circumstances, we anticipate each puppy will be ready to go home on the pickup dates listed. These early weeks matter so much, and we pour our hearts into making sure every puppy is prepared for a smooth transition into their forever home.

Yorkies may be small, but they bring such bold hearts and endless loyalty with them. Their confidence, charm, and spark of personality make them unforgettable little companions. Watching them grow into devoted family members who know exactly who their people are brings me so much joy.

If you’re considering a Yorkie and want to talk through things like activity level, living space, or how they fit into your day-to-day life, I’m always happy to help you decide.

A Little More About Our Yorkies

Yorkies - a the result of breeding two purebred Yorkshire terriers

Yorkshire Terriers are known for their loyalty, confidence, and affectionate nature. Despite their small size, Yorkies often think they’re much bigger than they are. They are lively, curious, and deeply devoted to their people.

Yorkies tend to bond closely with their families and love being involved in daily life. They’re happiest when they’re near you — whether that’s curled up in your lap, tagging along from room to room, or soaking up attention. With proper socialization, they can do wonderfully with children and make incredibly loving companions.

Why Families Love Yorkies

(These advantages are typically the case but cannot be guaranteed to be true of each individual puppy.)

Yorkies are one of the most beloved toy breeds for many reasons. Their silky coats shed very little and are often well-tolerated by families with mild allergies. They’re intelligent, alert, and quick learners, which makes them responsive to training when consistency and patience are used.

As a small breed, Yorkies are easy to manage and adapt well to a variety of living situations, including apartments and smaller homes. Their size makes them wonderful travel companions, and their loving personalities make them cherished members of the family.

The Yorkie Personality

Yorkshire Terriers are confident, affectionate, and full of character. They are known for being brave, loyal, and very people-focused. While they are alert and can be vocal, Yorkies raised in a loving, well-socialized environment tend to be well-balanced and adaptable.

They are not known for aggression and are often gentle and patient, especially when raised with children who understand how to interact respectfully with small dogs. Yorkies love attention, thrive on companionship, and absolutely enjoy cuddling just as much as playtime.

Yorkie Care & Maintenance

Yorkies have fine, silky hair rather than traditional fur, which means regular grooming is important. Their coats require routine brushing to prevent tangles, and many families choose to keep their Yorkie in a shorter “puppy cut” for easier maintenance.

Regular nail trims, ear care, and dental hygiene are also important for Yorkies. With consistent grooming and care, they are relatively easy to maintain and stay comfortable and healthy.

Typical Yorkie Colors

Yorkie coloring changes as they grow, which is part of what makes them so special. Puppies are typically born black and tan, with their coats gradually lightening as they mature. Adult Yorkies often develop the classic blue and tan coloring, though shades can vary slightly from puppy to puppy.
